The jet turbine engine on the TBM 940 makes all the difference, especially in speed and power, when compared to a piston engine such as found on Cirrus aircraft. Although extremely competent aircraft with many fantastic features, Cirrus planes offer certain limitations when compared to the TBM, for example the requirement for supplemental oxygen through a cannula, shock cooling when descending quickly and also unpressurised cabins. The TBM 940 however, offers a seemingly natural progression for Cirrus pilots as it too uses Garmin avionics meaning a familiarity with the key ‘buttonology’. For pilots looking to upgrade to a turbo prop engine, what better than the new 940 with a Garmin G3000 platform?
